Jiddisch ist  gor nicht so schwer

Jiddisch ist die Sprache, die ich am liebsten habe

Sie ist mein Erbe, das mir aus meiner Kindheit blieb

Ich hab sie Tag und Nacht gehört, weil man sie zu Hause sprach

Und wenn Ihr sie schnell lernen wollt, dann hört alle gut zu

Denn Jiddisch, unsere Muttersprache, ist gar nicht so schwer

Ein paar Wörter will ich euch lehren, es sind nicht all zu viele

So könnt Ihr verstehen, wenn die Klezmer beim Spielen auch singen

Masl sagt man für Glück und Tow heißt gut

Zores sind die Sorgen und Roges sagt man zur Wut

Ist einer klug, so ist er ein Chochem und Kowed ist die Ehre

Also, unsere Muttersprache ist gar nicht so schwer

Jiddisch, unsere Muttersprache, ist nicht schwer

Meloche heißt Handwerk und Parnose ist der Lohn

Und Rachmones ist Erbarmen, nur erntet man oft  Hohn

Zum Dieb sagt man Ganew, weil er stiehlt, was ihm nicht gehört

Und ihm ist arg, wenn die Tasche,  nebbich, schon leer war 

Und Dales ist die Armut, sie kann gar jeden treffen

Nun, dann lernt Jiddisch, es ist doch nicht so schwer

Weil Jiddisch, unsere Muttersprache, ist nicht schwer

Zum Schluss noch ein paar Wörter, Ihr werdet sie schon behalten

Naches heißt Vergnügen und mit Sokn meint man den Alten

Klezmer sind Musikanten, das habt Ihr bestimmt gewusst

Und Schiker sagt man zu einem, der zu viel Likör trinkt

Tipesch ist ein Dummkopf und Schekez ist ein Lümmel, bitte sehr

Ihr seht, auch das Schimpfen auf Jiddisch ist gar nicht so schwer

Sagt, dass ich recht habe: Jiddisch ist nicht schwer

Yiddish isn’t so difficult it all

Yiddish is the language that is most dear to me

It’s an inheritance of my childhood that has remained with me

I’ve always heard it, day in and day out, one had spoken it at our home

And if you want to learn it fast, than everybody should listen to me

‘cause Yiddish our mother language isn’t difficult at all

A few words I want to teach you, they aren’t so many

So you’ll be able to understand the Klezmer singing while playing

Masl you say for luck and Tov means good

Zores are the worries and Roges one says to anger

If someone is wise then he’s a Chochem and kowed is the honor

Yet, our mother tongue isn’t difficult at all

‘cause Yiddish our mother language isn’t difficult at all

Meloche is handcraft and Parnose is its reward

And Rachmones is pity but you often get scorn

to a thief one says Ganev ‘cause he steals things which are not his

And he's in bad shape if the pocket was emptied before

And Dales is poverty, it can happen to anyone

Therefore learn Yiddish, it’s indeed not too difficult

‘cause Yiddish our mother tongue isn’t too difficult at all

Well, finally another few words, you will surely retain them

Naches is pleasure and with Zokn one means the elderly

Klejzmer are the music players, this you knew already for sure

And Shiker one says to someone who drinks one too many  

Tipesh means stupid and Shjgetz is naughty boy, there you’re

Yet, You see, also insulting in Yiddish isn’t too difficult

Please say, I’m right, Yiddish isn’t difficult at all
